Canadian Immigration:
Confirmation Exempt Work Visas (Confirmation Exempt Work Permits)
A Confirmation Exempt Work Visa (or Confirmation Exempt Work Permit)
is a work visa which which is issued to a foreign national by the
Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) without the
need to obtain prior confirmation from the Department of Human Resources
and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).
Unlike a Confirmed Work Permit which requires both HRSDC and CIC
approval, a Confirmation Exempt Work Permit requires only CIC approval.
Because of this, a Confirmation Exempt Work Permit can be processed
in significantly less time than a Confirmed Work Permit. Canadian
employers who wish to employ foreign nationals under Work Permits
should always begin by attempting to determine whether a Confirmation
Exempt Work Permit can be obtained.
There are numerous different types of Confirmation Exempt Work
Permits. Each type has different qualifications and requirements
which the Canadian employer and the foreign national must meet.
