CANADIAN TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISAS
TRAVEL VISAS
Temporary Residents are
persons who are authorized to enter Canada temporarily but who do
not have the right to remain as a Permanent Resident. Tourists,
business visitors, foreign students and foreign workers are all
considered to be Temporary Residents.
If you are planning to enter Canada as a temporary resident, you
will need a Temporary Resident
Visa unless you are a Visa
Exempt Foreign National. You may also be requested to undergo
a Canadian Medical
Examination.
BUSINESS VISAS
Business Visitors may be admitted without a Work Permit. To learn

WORK VISAS
Work Permits are Canadian work
visas for foreign nationals who wish to work in Canada.
Work Permit Exempt
Activities. Certain types of work can be performed by foreign
nationals without a Work Permit.
Confirmation Exempt
Work Permits are fast track, one-step Work Permits. This category
includes the following:
Confirmed Work Permits
are standard track, two-step Work Permits that require the Canadian
employer to show that the foreign national’s employment will
not have a negative effect on available job opportunities for Canadians.
STUDENT VISAS
Study Permits are
Canadian student visas available to foreign nationals who wish to
enroll in a study program lasting six months or longer at a Canadian
university, college or secondary school, or in an academic, professional
or vocational training course.
CANADIAN PERMANENT RESIDENT VISAS
A Permanent Resident is someone who has the right to enter and
remain permanently in Canada. Canadian immigration law has traditionally
focused on attracting immigrants who wish to settle in Canada as
permanent residents. Permanent Resident Visas are available under
the following "Visa Programs."
Skilled Worker Visas
Canadian permanent resident visas for qualified individuals with
a business, management, academic, professional, technical, or skilled
trade background. The pass mark is 67 points.
Entrepreneur Visas
Canadian permanent resident visas for qualified individuals with
business ownership and management experience who have a minimum
net worth of $CAD300,000 ($US225,000) and who intend to own and
operate a business in Canada.
Investor Visas
Canadian permanent resident visas for qualified individuals with
business or management experience who have a minimum net worth of
$CAD800,000 ($US600,000).
Self-Employed Visas
Canadian permanent resident visas for qualified individuals in
the following occupational fields: culture and entertainment; athletics
and sports; and, farm ownership and management.
Family Visas
Canadian citizens or permanent residents can sponsor close family
members for Canadian permanent resident visas.
Canadian Immigration Medical Examinations are required for all
Permanent Resident applicants and their dependents.
